  About Museum’s Collection of Oil Paintings The museum’s oil paintings collection includes artworks by American, European, and Asian artists from the 17th century to as recent as 2017. These paintings give a retrospective look at the progression and changes in art from the past to the present. From allegorical paintings to luminist landscapes, these works offer a unique perspective on how the use of color, light, and rendering can be applied to change how the viewer relates to the works. A Few Featured Works On View The Turnip Pickers Artist: Evariste Carpentier (1845-1922) About the artist Evariste Carpentier was born in the small town of Kuurne, Belgium in 1845. He joined the art group known as  XX  (Les Vingt), which was arguably the most important avant-garde circle of the day, whose purpose was to promote Impressionism and Luminism in Belgium. His later life was spent in the city of Liege, where he is remembered as the painter who brought Impressionism to that area....
